Obama Obliterates Clinton in Guam
Using words that the Clinton campaign would use – trounced, slaughtered, destroyed – Barack Obama bested Hillary Clinton by a mere seven votes in the Guam Democratic caucus today. A win is a win, and in a effort to amass as many delegates as he can, it is a win worth celebrating. It is likely that the candidates will split the delegates allotted in Guam, but this win prevents Clinton from jumping up and down, dropping a thousand balloons and declaring that her great-grandmother thought about Guam once and made her a Spam sandwich when she was a child.
The aspect of the upcoming primaries in Indiana and North Carolina is that whoever emerges as the winner, it will probably not be a blow-out on either side. Of course the Obama team would love to see a huge Obama win in both states, but I believe we’re quite content with a close race in Indiana and a ten-point win in North Carolina. Despite what we hear from the Clintons and their spokespersons, the delegate count is the only barometer that we need to keep our eyes on, and no matter what happens this Tuesday, Obama will continue to rack up sorely needed delegates as he marches toward the goal line.
This race has turned difficult, sometimes ugly. This country should look at the fight in the belly of Barack Obama. He has taken numerous punches to the gut, but he keeps getting right back up and lives to fight on another day.
I am immensely proud to be a part of this campaign, and I will keep calling Indiana voters until Monday evening. I have spoken with several dozen people from all over that state, and left messages for hundreds more. I am hopeful that when they step into the voting booth on Tuesday, they make a wise, thoughtful and informed decision with an eye toward what is truly best for this country at this moment in time.
