Palin is Preeminent Energy Expert
Sarah Palin was selected as John McCain’s running mate and was immediately touted by the Republican as a maverick, having foreign policy insight because she’s so close to Russia and having executive experience because she’s the only candidate to have run a city and a state. Well, we know how valid and lasting those references have become, but the one area where Palin’s knowledge seemed to resonate was with regard to energy and oil, and from John McCain on down, we have been hearing that Palin is an expert on energy issues and will be McCain’s point person on energy when they get into the White House.
So when asked in a town hall style meeting yesterday by someone in the crowd about Alaska’s oil and whether as much as 75% is sold directly to China, one would think that she’d nail that answer. Well, guess again. Not surprisingly, she isn’t even familiar with the distribution of oil from her own state.

I don’t think it’s unfair at this point to say that Sarah Palin is qualified as a snarky, sarcastic and confident point person for the McCain campaign, but to say that she has any expertise in anything relative to running a campaign on a national and international level is a stretch tantamount to saying that my preparing to ride in another local bicycle rally puts me on the same par with Lance Armstrong.
I am a pretty strong bike rider, but I’m going to hold of on buying my plane ticket to France to compete in the Tour de France.
